Join the Saffron Walden Museum Society for their series of monthly talks. This month, Richard Fletcher gives a talk on ‘The Development of Palace House, Newmarket: the new National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art’

Explore the museum by torchlight and take part in our spooky trail, in our annual Museums at Night event!

Dreaming of a seaside holiday? Come along to our seaside-themed craft activities instead and you can even play in our sandpit afterwards!

Hands on with History: Stone Age Day

Join our Stone Age man to find out what life was like thousands of years ago! He’ll be setting up camp in the museum grounds!

Hands on with History: Shell Creatures
Weds 23 August (Summer Holidays)


Come along to make seaside creatures from shells! You can use one of our shells, or bring along any you’ve collected on the seashore!

Learn about these enormous creatures that lived during the last ice age and see a real woolly mammoth tusk!
